AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Many people in Amarillo do their part to contribute to lend their hand to the community.
Some people take holidays to be with their family and close down their businesses or take off work.
But when on this Thanksgiving holiday their were more than 100 volunteers at the salvation army serving a warm meal to those in need.
"You have volunteers coming and giving their time even if only for a few hours today. Why? Because there's a lot of people who need to come, who need the meal, who need the warmth and above all need the fellowship contact. And need hope some way some kind of joy maybe in their life even if only for a few hours today," said Major Time Grider a minister at the Salvation Army.
Thanks to donations the Salvation Army prepared and served more than 190 turkeys and almost one ton of potatoes.
