A dollar will be donated for every pound of meat sold
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q is joining the fight against hunger here in the Panhandle. The restaurant will be donating a dollar for every pound of meat sold beginning Tuesday through Thursday, December 2, to the High Plains Food Bank. The food bank serves Amarillo and the surrounding area.
In addition, Rudy's will donate 50 cents for every verifiable new "Like" on Facebook and Twitter follower during the same period as part of its Follow2Support program, which is a cause-related social media initiative that benefits charities. Funds raised through the social networks will be divided evenly across all food bank partners.
"We are so grateful to Rudy's for partnering with us during this season of need. What's great about the monetary donation, they will be giving us, is the five times impact it will have for the Food Bank," said Broc Carter, HPFB Director of Communications. "As of right now, we are able to meet the need and have seen an increase in the food and monetary donations, but we are entering a high need season, but we are hopeful that the generosity of the people of the Panhandle will help us to continue to meet the need."
Rudy's across the state have joined the fight and will make donations to local food banks that serve the community where there is a participating Rudy's location.
"The problem of hunger is not only in poverty-stricken countries, but also in our own backyard," said Pete Bassett, VP of Operations at Rudy's Bar-B-Q in a press release. "With this 3-day fundraising campaign to fight hunger, Rudy's Bar-B-Q will be able to feed hundreds of needy families in the communities where we serve during this holiday season."
