Sunray, Texas - The Sunray Police Department and Sunray ISD are investigating a possible hazing incident at Sunray Middle School. According to a release from the school district, they received a report from the Sunray P.D. on November 23rd after school hours about allegations involving several middle school boys. The complaints include what are described as harrassment, bullying and/or hazing.

The district's release continues by saying that police think what happened could be criminal misconduct, and that they were opening an investigation.

The release also states that they have policies against such actions, and are taking the situation seriously. They will continue to work with law enforcement by, "the maximum extent permitted by law." The district has their own investigation into the situation, and a meeting was held with parents on November 24th.

It was also stated that while any criminal charges will come from the police department, the school district will take any necessary disciplinary actions against any students or faculty as deemed appropriate.

The release concludes by saying that the district wants to have an open line of communication with students and parents, but they cannot release any details of the investigation due to student privacy issues.

ProNews 7 received an email about this story on November 29th. We immediately called the school district, and left a message for the superintendent. A fax was then sent to the newsroom in response.

We have not been able to verify the contents of the email we received, but the allegations in it are serious. It says that several eighth grade boys ganged up on seventh grade boys, bullying them in a variety of ways including simulated sexual acts. It states that the victims in this incident were traumatized, and barely able to coherently describe what had occurred.
