PERRYTON, TX -- The town of Perryton and the surrounding communities were quick to respond after more than $8,000 worth of children's gifts were stolen.
Children's toys and clothing items were stolen from a toy storage building in Perryton a couple of days ago on December 7.
While the incident is being labeled as, "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" , like the movie -- the outcome of this story has a happy ending.
Kim Roberson, life-long resident of Perryton, is one of the many supporters who came to help after the burglary took place.
"I just couldn't imagine, in a good conscious, being able to give my grandkids all these toys and there'd be some in this town that didn't have anything, so it just needed to be done," said Kim Roberson, Perryton Resident.
Roberson says she was pretty sure that this community wouldn't let these kids go without.
"It doesn't really surprise me that the town has reacted the way they have and been as generous as they have. If there's a need in this town, we take care of it."
She also says the outpouring of support is what Christmas is truly about.
"The greatest gift we ever had for Christmas was Jesus Christ. This is a perfect town to show their generosity and show their giving sprit to help out others."
So far, more than half the money needed to replace the gifts had been raised.
If you want to help and donate money or toys, you can make those donations at any First Bank Southwest location .
