AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Amarillo School District Board of Trustees considered a boundary change for the Tascosa Cluster at their meeting Monday night. The board is looking into the future and preparing for growth in the years ahead.
The change would make way for the expected growth increase in the area of Loop 335 and Broadway, please see attached map for the exact area. Currently, kids within that area would attend Pleasant Valley Elementary School, the changes will have those kids feed into the Woodlands School.
A spokesperson for the district said that Pleasant Valley is at capacity and there is no room to expand the facilities. The Woodlands is also full, but is not landlocked meaning the district could add portables or even build additional wings if needed in the future.
As for now, the changes are not expected to affect any students, the construction of the subdivision could take years to complete.
