ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico's so-called "Sunshine Portal" is up and running. The state government's accountability and transparency website was launched Thursday.

Republican State Sen. Sander Rue of Albuquerque sponsored legislation that led to creation of the site. He says the concept behind the portal was to create a "one-stop shop" where reporters and residents can learn how state agencies are spending public money.

Foundation for Open Government executive director Sarah Welsh says it's "a red-letter day for transparency in New Mexico."

She says the site offers information on investment figures, revenue breakdowns and lists of state employee salaries. Users can view funded capital projects and sort them by county.

Rue says he's hoping users who visit the site can offer feedback on ways to improve it.
