AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A big part of Christmas is family, and while some gather around tables in their homes for Christmas meals, others made their way to restaurants including the Big Texan.

The Big Texan has been serving their Christmas buffet for 50 years, and for some families it has become a Panhandle tradition.

For Peggy Lansing, this is the first time that she and her family come to the Big Texan on Christmas, and she says it was time to change things up a bit.

"It gives people an opportunity to do something different from the regular ham and turkey. It gives them an experience to go out and be with the family and experience the Big Texan in the only way that it is -- the Big Texan. I don't have to clean up the mess, and I don't have to do the dishes."

The Big Texan will serve anywhere from 18-hundred to 23-hundred guests before their doors close tonight at 11.

The Big Texan Christmas day buffet includes Cajun turkey breasts, homemade dressing and gravy, and all the sides including desserts made from scratch.
