CONWAY, TEXAS -- On Monday, DPS troopers found 82 pounds of marijuana hidden inside the trunk of a car. A trooper stopped a Toyota Corolla on I-40 near Conway. The trooper asked for permission to search the vehicle but the driver, Horacio Navarro Jr., 40, of Haslet denied the search. A K-9 unit was called to the scene and conducted a free air sniff, the dog alerted to the presence of a controlled substance.

The pot valued at $287,000 was found hidden inside the trunk of the car. Troopers believe the drug was being shipped from California to Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Navarro, was arrested and booked into the Carson County jail for possession of marijuana, a second degree felony punishable by 2-20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
