AMARILLO, TEXAS -- It's official. Ellen Robertson Green announced Friday morning her run forĀ City Commissioner Place 1. That spot is currently held by Madison Scott who earlier this month said he would not run again. Ellen is an Amarillo native and currently serves on the traffic commission. She is a board member on several organizations and is President of West Hills Neighborhood Association in northwest Amarillo. Ellen says her 31 years of working the community makes her a perfect candidate.

"I think there is no better way to make a difference in your local community then by serving in local government. We spend a lot of time worrying about what's going on in Washington and Austin, and those decision are important to us but they don't effect us everyday like the decisions that are made at City Hall," said Ellen Robertson Green, Running for Place 1.

"I have spent 31 years in a professional career working on boards and researching issues and then proactively addressing issues. What I've learned through all that is it can't be about me and it can't be about you, it has to be all of us working together," said Robertson Green.

If you want to have a voice, Amarillo City elections will be held on May 14th.
