AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Supreme Court decision, back in 1973, overturned a Texas interpretation of the law, making abortion legal in the United States in the landmark case Roe versus Wade.

Still the decision does not stop protesters nationwide and locally from making their own statements.

Several people gathered at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Amarillo to march for what they call the "Right to Life".

"Somehow people have gotten the sense that life is dispensable, disposable, and of no value until it's born. We don't defend it only at that stage -- it must be defended also throughout life to it's natural death," said Bishop Patrick Zurek, Amarillo Roman Catholic Diocese.

Protesters made their way to the Texas Panhandle Family Planning and Health Center to conduct a prayer service.

"The people who are protesting here today could just as easily be protesting any o.b.g.y.n. office or family practice because we do nothing more or less than what is done at many other healthcare facilities and doctors offices in the area," said Ron Barwick, Family Planning & Health Centers CEO.

Officials at St. Mary's pointed out that today's youth is making a big impact for pro-life work because of a simple realization.

"They could have been aborted. Their mother had a choice to either choose death or life, and because many of them are living today they look to the sides and know that one in three of them are gone because of abortion," said Stephanie Frausto, Catholic Diocese Respect Life Ministries Director.

Former CEO of Planned Parenthood, Claudia Stravato, says the young generation should be educated when it comes life choices.

"Why would we withhold life-saving information from our children, why would we do that? It makes no sense.  If you have no information, how could you possibly make a good decision -- you can't. I believe in telling people the truth and giving them the facts and leaving it up to them to make a choice."

Although protesters have targeted the clinic -- it does not perform abortions.

A primary focus of the center is to provide services to those who can't afford it.
