AMARILLO, TEXAS Is the fanny pack on the way back in? According to the Wall Street Journal, the answer is maybe. Don't let the world of high fashion catch you calling them fanny packs. Designers are using the more couture-friendly monikers of "hands free bag," and "belt bag."

While Hulk Hogan, a notorious fanny pack aficionado, probably won't be sporting the dainty, sparkly versions set to hit stores later this month, it's a safe bet that it won't be long before the fashionistas in your world turn up with a belt bag or hands free bag accessorizing their latest outfit.

Yvan Mispelaere, creative director for Diane von Furstenberg, cited the Roman goddess Diana the Huntress and other famous women as his inspiration. While often the butt of jokes, the newer versions of the 'hip bag' are using better materials than the nylon bags that harken to the early 1990's. Don't expect to get one on the cheap just yet, the DVF version is slated to cost $325.00.

The entire world of fashion is not behind the movement, designer Reed Krakoff is quoted in the WSJ article as saying, they are "not something I would ever think about or talk about."
