AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Select people may soon have the right to carry concealed hand guns into school board meetings.

Legislators are trying to pass a bill that would allow school board members and superintendents to carry a concealed hand gun just in case anyone's safety should ever become compromised.

"I believe in our Second Amendment Rights and I think it's important that groups have the ability to carry concealed guns at their public meetings in their official capacity. We are able as state law makers to do the same on the house floor for instance, so I don't see any reason to discriminate against elected school board officials," said Four Price, House District 87 State Representative.

If the bill passes, school board members and superintendents will have the option to carry a concealed hand gun if they choose to do so.

"I see a lot of pro-gun legislation being passed in the House and in the Senate. There are several bills being considered and probably several more that will be filed between now and the filling deadline. I think the odds of successful passage of some these bills are very high," said State Representative Price.

This option will only be available to elected school officials and not for the general public.
