AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Voters in Amarillo will have the chance to see each of the candidates for mayor and City Commission at a Candidate Forum Tuesday evening.
The forum, conducted by the League of Women Voters, will be at the Amarillo Senior Citizen's Center Main Hall at 1220 South Polk. The event starts at 6 p.m. with light refreshments and the program starts at 6:30.
23 candidates have been invited to participate, according to the release. Those include 11 who are running for mayor and one write-in. Candidates who have filed to run for the four commission spots will also be participating. The election is on May 14.
"We urge voters to attend the forum so they can hear the candidates and their views in person and be able to make more informed decisions at the ballot box," said Sylvia Perkins, forum chair.
Moderating the event will be Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart, Amarillo College Vice President for Academic Affairs.
