AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Kids Incorporated offers sporting programs for boys and girls, like flag football, T-ball, and volleyball. In April we told you about Kids Inc. withdrawing its proposal to participate in the city's Downtown Recreation Center. Now we wanted to know what's next for the company.

Kids Inc. Signs are going up on the double door entrance to its building.

"We just decided the best thing to do is stay put," said Jimmy Lackey, the President and CEO of Kids Inc. Lackey said this location at 27th and Osage is a home run. It features 32,000 square feet of space. "We haven't grown into it yet, we've been here 12.5 years. We don't owe a dime, we never have. It's a pretty good feeling to come to work and know your program fees aren't affected by that. Your budgets are not affected by the fact that your overhead is paid for," said Lackey.

And that is just one reason that Kids Inc. is says it's staying put.

"After all the stuff downtown, we took some time off then we met with the board and we looked at expenses of moving to our sports complex so we would have to raise some money above and beyond what we were looking to do," Lackey continued saying, "If there's every a time that we're going to get back to status quo, and I'm not a big status quo guy, I'm always looking outside the box for what we can do now, but for maybe a little bit here, a little bit of status quo is pretty good. Get back to a normal routine and make sure that we're service children and families in the community." But he said staying put doesn't change anything about who Kids Inc is or what it does.

"We're been centered around a building project we put a tremendous effort into that and now that its off the table, we're getting back into the mode of making decisions, what's best for kids and make sure that we're service the parents that need our services and kids in programs because that's what we're here to do."

They will continue with their programs as scheduled. On Monday they'll start T-ball and spring volleyball, on Tuesday they'll start coach pitch softball, and one week from Saturday is outdoor soccer.
