More foster families needed

Mom and dad... two words that not all children get to say.

Today's "Foster Fun Day" at the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum in Canyon recognized many foster home families licensed through Child Protective Services. Despite the number of foster homes already in place, the unfortunate truth remains -- there still aren't enough.

"There are will over probably 300 kids in this area and the Lubbock area that need adopting", says CPS Foster Home Developer Megan Jephcott.

They are kids just like yours -- who go to school, who play, who laugh and who cry for the families they wish they had.

"There are many with special needs and there are also some that are just regular kiddo's that are just want that forever home, they want someone to love them for the rest of their lives", says Jephcott.

The Oglesby family answered the call and ended up with a daughter who they say was theirs from the start.

"She's just like, I mean, it's just like she was our own. Like, we had just had her naturally. She just fits perfectly with us. It was like it was just always meant to be. It is a long process, but it's totally worth it. It's worth the wait, it's worth the time you put into it", says Amber Oglesby.

There are still many children in our area that need families to love and take care of them and sometimes, you may need them just as much as they need you.

"We needed her and she needed us, so we were the perfect match", says proud dad, Matt Oglesby.
