ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO (AP) -- The Albuquerque City Council is expected to vote Monday whether to approve a new red-light camera contract.
One council member expected to vote no is Councilman Dan Lewis. He tells KOAT-TV he plans to take the matter before voters and let them decide if Albuquerque should keep the program.
In May, The mayor's office and Redflex Traffic Systems reached an agreement on a contract extension, but the City Council didn't approve it.
The Albuquerque Journal reports Mayor Richard Berry has proposed a one-year contract with Redflex that could be renewed annually for another five years.
