AMARILLO, TEXAS -- We've received some comments on Facebook about the condition of some of Amarillo's roads and wanted to check with city officials on them.

Case in point, on 34th between Coulter and Soncy. Some say it feels like the roads are segmented and and as you drive down 34th, it's a constant stream of bumps.

So we talked to people that use that road daily and City Officials about the breaks in the street and what caused the problem.

"Every day I drive down it and it's like a pothole, or maybe just a hole in the street and I would say a complete re-do of it. They've patched it and it gets broken up and I think a complete re-do would be great," said Jeremy Hollis at Cat-Man-Du computers.

So what's really happening?

"What happens is the soil underneath is clay, and susceptible to water and it tends to move and we get a pretty regular break in the street, about every 30 feet or so," said Amarillo City Engineer Mark Read.

Read says they've already put 34th in the budget for this next year for a complete renovation, taking the street down to the bare soil, and now it's up to City Commissioners to deicde to include it in the budget.
