AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Friday, June 10th is National Cancer Survivors Day. To celebrate here in Amarillo, The Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center invited all its patients past and present to celebrate life.

For great food, music, face painting, even some kid activities, families affected by cancer and those survivors gathered to celebrate life.

"We've invited all of our cancer patients to come out and celebrate being alive, celebrate surviving cancer. You know, survivors are someone who becomes a survivor the first day of diagnoses," said Mary Barlow, Baptist St. Anthony's Spokesman.

Survivors from newly diagnosed to years of staying cancer free, say they're just grateful they're here to celebrate the day, and be here for their kids and grandkids.

"This is such a special day because I do get to be with my grandkids and just celebrate the health that I have and I just appreciate Harrington Cancer Center so much," said Linda Murphy, Breast Cancer Survivor

"It's wonderful to celebrate life, every day counts," said Karen Houghton, Breast Cancer Survivor

It's that motto that rings true for these folks, because they say, after becoming a cancer survivor you have a better appreciation for life and all things that make it grand.

It's estimated 10.2 million people living with a history of cancer will unite Friday for National Cancer Survivors Day to show the world that there's life after a cancer diagnosis.
