WELLINGTON, TEXAS -- Mandatory water restrictions have been put into place in Wellington.
The water restrictions come after necessary repairs were made to the well that was previously broken. The Emergency Water Shortage has been lifted but Wellington city officials have declared a Mild Water Shortage.
Under the restrictions, residents can only weather their lawns on certain days and times. Even numbered addresses can water on Sundays and Thursdays before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m. Odd numbered addresses can water only on Saturdays and Wednesdays at the same times. The City says watering times should be limited to 20 minutes.
Irrigation of landscaped areas is permitted at any time if using a hand held hose or bucket that uses less than five gallons or less.
Additionally, residents can only wash vehicles and other large transportation items before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m. Refilling pools is also prohibited except on the designated water days.
All non-essential watering is prohibited, to include washing of sidewalks, washing buildings and flushing gutters.
