AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A staple on the campus of Caprock High School is making its way back home.
The famous C that was torn down in 2007 is making its comeback and there is some excitement around campus.
It was a gift from a senior class in the 70'S and remained there until just five years ago.
The C had been vandalized and worn down over years of students gathering around it in the court yard.
Caprock Principal Christina Ritter said, "It was pretty dilapidated, not in its best condition and it's not the best representation of you know Caprock is."
It was removed in 2007 but not before that senior class voted to have a more aesthetically pleasing C replace the old one.
"Symbols are relevant but having the right symbol out there that embodies the spirit of that student body, not one that is dilapidated and falling apart but one that something they can be proud of when they look at."
According to Kevin McKinney a Caprock Alumni, students should be excited to have the C back and he thinks it will unify the campus.
"Now that the C is back, I imagine that Caprock as a unit, as a school will be 100 times closer than anywhere before. We had the football championships this year and we pulled through everything as a school, so I'm sure they'll excited to see it back."
McKinney says when the C was gone it felt like something was missing around campus and he is happy to see it back.
Ritter says she hopes the new C will establish some new school traditions and help bring students closer together.
