AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The broken water main that affected Amarillo and Canyon since Sunday has been fixed and is now back in full service.
City Officials say the 45-inch Carson County Well Field transmission main was back in full service at 9:00 Tuesday morning.
It was Sunday morning when the water main broke and prompted local officials to ask residents to conserve water and stop non-essential water usage.
According to the City, residents complied well and the reduction in usage was necessary to minimizing the overall system drawdown. Although the water main has been fixed, the City is still asking residents to continue to to minimize water use for the remainder of the week. Officials ask the public to not use water for lawn or outdoor use. The reason for this-- so the water system will recover its storage capacities to avoid possible further restructions.
