The Panhandle Remembers: 9/11 events

As the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks approach, the Panhandle is gathering to remember and commemorate those whose lives were lost on that day.
People across the country are asked to wear red in honor of those who lost their lives.
Here are events from across the Panhandle to honor the anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 11:
Amarillo
Honor Guards Ceremony - 8:30 a.m. at City Hall (509 SE 7th Ave) Amarillo Fire Department, Amarillo Police Department, Department of Public Safety, Potter County Sheriff, Randall County Sheriff and supporting agencies will pay tribute to the heroes of Sept. 11.
We Remember 9/11 - 12:30 p.m. at Westgate Chevrolet (I-40 and Coulter) Amarillo Area Corvette Club will gather to pay their respects. A caravan will go through the City starting at 2:30.
Celebration of Freedom and Fundraiser for the Texas Panhandle Honor Flight - Skooterz (6th Street) from 1:00-9:00 p.m. - Benefit motorcycle run, silent auction, shirts and bands.
Borger
Memorial Service - 2 p.m. - Borger Area Emergency Services Honor Guard and Vietnam Veterans of America will have a service in Huber Park
Guymon
Saturday - Firefighter's Ball at 6 p.m. At Pickle Creek Event Center. Tickets available by calling the Fire Department
Storm Sirens - Guymon Fire Department will sound the City's tornado sirens at noon to reflect on the lives lost.
Clovis/Portales
Memorial ceremony and dedication - 6:46 a.m., Cannon Air Force Base, flag pole at Headquarters
Refreshments for Veterans - 8 a.m. to noon, St. Anthony Healthcare, 1400 W. 21st St.
9/11 Prayer and praise celebration - 9:30 a.m. at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton Street, Clovis. Non-denominational service with prayer requests and music. All donations and offerings will be directed to "Faith Comes by Hearing" program to give mp3 players with audio Bibles to active duty military members.
