Thanks to the help of a police K-9, police were able to arrest three men who police say were breaking into automobiles at an Amarillo apartment complex.
According to police, a call was received at around 3:45 Wednesday morning at the Canyons at 45 West Apartment Complex in the 4100 block of W. 45th of four subjects breaking into vehicles.
Upon arrival, police saw the subjects running through the parking lot. Officers chased the subject and ordered them to stop.
Witnesses told police the subject had climbed a fence and were in an adjacent apartment complex's apartment complex.
Amarillo's newest K-9, named Hero jumped and cleared a five-foot concrete wall and landed in the bed of one of the suspect's pickups. This caused them to break and run again. Hero was able to quickly catch two of the suspects.
A third suspect was caught nearby and a fourth suspect has not yet been located. 20-year-old Matthew Mitchell, 18-year-old Toby Mitchell and 17-year-old Brandon Bellinghaussen were all booked on charges of Auto Burglary.
