AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A piece of NASA, Rick Husband and his story made it's way to Amarillo Wednesday for it's final flight.
The NASA space shuttle training aircraft, once flown by Husband himself, can now call The Texas Air and Space Muesuem here in Amarillo it's home. It arrived Wednesday morning and will become a piece of the museum that anyone can visit, look at and learn the story of Amarillo native, Rick Husband.
"To have a part of that program, not just a part of that program but part of the NASA program but to have a part of the program that's tied to Rick Husband. It's, to us, it's somewhat undescribable. It's a really, really big thing for us", President of the Texas Air and Space Museum, Ron Fernuik.
Rick Husband was one of the seven astronauts that died February 1, 2003 when space shuttle Columbia broke up while re-entering Earth's atmosphere.
