BORGER, TEXAS -- A Borger woman was killed late Saturday night and officials are linking it to speed and the driver consuming alcoholic beverages.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety, Jimmy D. Ream, 35, of Borger, was traveling eastbound on Highway 152 in a 2003 Ford Mustang. One mile east of Borger, Ream lost control of the vehicle, Troopers said.

Ream had been drinking, DPS said. After losing control, the car spun around and went off the roadway into an embankment. It then went into a deep ravine, overturned and ejected the driver before hitting the side of the ravine, according to DPS.

The passenger, Kimberly A. Warren, 30, of Borger, was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said she was wearing her seat belt.

Ream was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital with severe head trauma and internal injuries. He was last listed in critical condition. He was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

DPS said speed and the driver consuming alcoholic beverages are factors that contributed to this crash. Charges are pending the conclusion of this investigation.
