The state of Texas cannot move forward on the final approval of the new re-districing maps drawn in the last legislative session, due to a court order from a federal judge.
In question: new congressional, state house and state senate maps.
A group of democratic politicians, minority groups and civil rights activists have sued the state saying the republican majority drew the new political lines in a way that discriminates against minorities.
State Senator Kel Seliger says he believes the maps will still be approved.
"This is a part of the process that happens every ten years or so and there are always new wrinkles in it, but this is nothing different than what happened 10 years ago, 20 years ago, 30 years ago."
Seliger says there's no way to gauge how long it will take to get the maps approved.
