AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Great news for a number of area schools they're about receive some extra cash.

That's thanks to the Education Credit Union's "Pocket Change Grant". This is the third year for the grant and this year, the credit union will be giving away more than $19,000 to 45 area schools. Of course, this grant wouldn't be possible without the help of Education Credit Union employees who helped raise the money by paying a few bucks each month to wear jeans on Fridays.

"We're just really proud of our staff because this really evolved from the staff at the credit union so they're supporting their local communities," said Education Credit Union Executive V.P. Claudia Burkett. "They see the need that's out there in our communities."

Each school receiving the grant will use the money for things like good behavior rewards or field trips.
