AMARILLO, TEXAS -- In the spirit of giving, a local shelter stepped up to offer a Christmas dinner Thursday afternoon.

Faith City Ministries served around 500 people during their annual event. They dined on things like turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. More than 250 volunteers were there to help serve and give out bikes to the kids and new clothes and coats to the adults.

"I think Christmas reminds us of giving because your always thinking about what presents to buy for someone else and so we already have that spirit of giving inside of us," said Public Relations Director for Faith City Ministries. "To have a way to serve them, to feed them and offer them some items that they might need, it's a wonderful blessing."

Faith City Ministries serves the less fortunate three meals a day, every day and it will also host another holiday meal around Easter time.
