AMARILLO, TEXAS -- AAA is offering a way for people and their vehicles to get home safely after celebrating the New Year.

Tipsy Tow is a free towing service starting at 6 p.m. Friday and ending at 6 a.m. Sunday.  If someone is intoxicated, they can call the AAA Texas Emergency Roadside Service at 1(800) 222-4357.

The tow and the ride home are free if the trip is no more than ten miles.  Additional miles must be payed for.  The destination can only be the person's home- bars, parties and other places are a no-go.  AAA will give someone a ride to a hotel as long as they are a customer there.

"We need people to be proactive and we want to be supportive of the people that would stop someone from getting into their car and driving intoxicated," AAA Public Affairs Spokesperson Sarah Schimmer said.  "It is not worth a DUI or DWI conviction and it's not worth harming yourself or someone else on the road."

AAA is encouraging bartenders, restaurant management and party hosts to use the number, as well.
