City of Clovis looking for leaders

The City of Clovis is looking for residents interested on serving on the City Commission and several committees.

Clovis City Hall told Pronews 7 it has several positions open. You must be elected for many of them.


Here is the list, according to the City:

-Three positions available for election/reelection on the Civic Center Policy Committee. The Civic Center Policy Committee makes recommendations to the Clovis City Commission regarding the Clovis Civic Center.

-One position available for election/reelection on the Commission on Older Adults. The Commission on Older Adults meets quarterly on a Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the Baxter-Curren Senior Center.

-Two positions open from the City of Clovis for election/reelection on the Public Works Committee for a representative from District 1 and a representative from District 4. The Public Works Committee meets at 8:30 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month to make recommendations to the Clovis City Commission regarding public works activities.

-Two vacancies on the Cultural/Ethnic Affairs Committee. The Cultural/Ethnic Affairs Committee makes recommendations to the Commission regarding the cultural activities in the community and the annual Ethnic Fair.

-The City of Clovis Lodgers Tax Advisory Board has the following positions available for election/re-election: a member from operator of industry primarily serving tourists, a member from the hotel industry, and a member of the public. The Lodgers Tax Advisory Board meets quarterly on the first Monday of the quarter at 5:30 p.m. to hear applications for lodging tax funding and to make recommendations regarding the disbursement of lodging tax to the Clovis City Commission.
