OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma education officials say they've received positive feedback from the federal government on the state's application for a waiver around unpopular proficiency requirements from the No Child Left Behind education law.

The Oklahoman reports that the U.S. Education Department provided mostly positive feedback on its plan to transition to a new set of educational standards known as the Common Core State Standards. 

But the feedback from the government also listed some areas of concern. One is the implementation of a new system that assesses a school's performance using an A-to-F letter grade. Another concern is that the needs of students with disabilities and those who are learning English as a second language were not fully addressed.

Eleven states are seeking a waiver.
