AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Traffic on the northwest side of Loop 335 may be delayed for the next few months.

That's because traffic will be reduced to one lane on the Amarillo Creek overpass between North Coulter Street and Hester Road.

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) said only one lane will be open for both east and westbound lanes. A signal light will direct traffic on the overpass. Motorists can expect to stop for the traffic signal and experience short delays, TxDOT said.

The bridge replacement is part of a nearly $4.2 million project to build an access road on the south side of Loop 335 from North Counter Street east to the railroad tracks.

Officials said the project should be complete by late Spring 2013. The traffic light is scheduled to be removed by late fall.

The construction begins Tuesday.
