HEREFORD, TEXAS -- An 18-wheeler got stuck on the tracks Minday in Hereford and the driver was unable to get the big rig off the tracks before the next train came through.
According to Hereford Fire Marshal Dean Turney, the rig high centered and was hit by a westbound train before nine this morning. The driver was able to escape before the train hit. He also says the train basically split the tractor and trailer and believes it was pretty much totaled.
The train engine suffered a small fuel leak, and BNSF employees were able to fix that on the spot.
Turney said by about 3:30 Monday afternoon that the tracks are open again and train traffic is already rolling through the city.
