Big changes ahead for UIL alignment

The UIL bi-ennial realignment for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons has affected a number of schools in the Amarillo area and throughout the Pronews 7 viewing area.
For the first time since the two schools began competing against each other, Amarillo and Tascosa will be in different classes. The bad news, AHS falls to the 4A ranks while THS stays in the 5A ranks, but the good news, the two will continue their football rivalry, however the game will be played during the first or second week of the season.
Other area schools moving include River Road up to 3A. Boys Ranch and Canadian up to 2A while Nazareth will play 6-man football.
