It's a new day at ProNews 7.
Ryan Hazelwood has been named news director after a national search.
Ryan brings a wealth of experience into the newsroom, including stints at KVUE in Austin, another Amarillo station and even at Pronews 7. He was also previously the Managing Producer for a national production company.
He is currently a Broadcast Engineer and Instructor at West Texas A&M University along with owning a media and consulting company.
At WT, Ryan instructs several courses for students interested in working in the media after college. He also advises the University's chapter of the National Broadcasting Society (NBS) and serves on its National Board of Governors.
"We are very excited to have Ryan on board," said Thom Pritz, President and CEO of KVII. "We already have the best news team in Texas and it just got better."
Ryan said he is looking forward to working with the ProNews 7 staff and developing a news philosophy centered around storytelling.
"I'm very big on storytelling," he said. "I believe people want to hear other people's stories."
Ryan holds a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcasting and Advertising and a Master's Degree in Corporate Communication from WTAMU. He is set to begin his new position in May.
"I'm very excited about this new opportunity," he added.
