AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Two people were arrested and booked into jail after being charged with burglarizing an apartment complex office.

According to police, Ashley Stauder, 21, and Michael Bailey, 25, of Amarillo, were both booked into the Potter County Detention Center for burglary.

Police said officers spotted a black Dodge SUV driving at a high rate of speed southbound at about 4:30 a.m., Sunday in the 1500 block of South Bell. As officers continued to watch the vehicle, they were dispatched to the 1500 block of Bell at the Kensington Apartments on the report of a burglary in the office.

A witness, according to police, heard glass break, people talking and then saw a black SUV leave at a high rate of speed.

Police pulled over the vehicle in the 4300 block of West Interstate-40. Inside was a female driver along with two passengers.

Two of the people in the car had fresh cuts on their hands and officers saw checks and papers from the Kensington Apartments inside the vehicle, police said.

Officers said the apartment complex office had been burglarized with a window broken out, the front door pried open and the night drop box broken open.

The two suspects were arrested and a female passenger in the vehicle was released, pending investigation, police said.
