Amarillo blood center has critical shortage

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Coffee Memorial Blood Center currently has a critical shortage of blood and is asking residents to donate as soon as possible.
According to the blood center, a multi-vehicle crash left at least one person with life-threatening injuries. That patient used nearly 20 units of type O-negative blood in addition to other blood components.
Blood center officials said O-positive blood is also being used heavily.
Anyone with O-negative or O-positive blood is asked t omake a donation.
Located at 7500 Wallace Boulevard, the blood center is open on Tuesday from 9 a.m., until 7 p.m.
