After more than a century of top notch service, Baptist Saint Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo has been recognized as one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation.

The study was done by Thomson Reuters, and this was the first time BSA has made the prestigious list.

The study is based on ten areas of performance: mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average patient stay, expenses, profitability, patient satisfaction, adherence to clinical standards of care, post-discharge mortality, and readmission rates for acute myocardial infarcation (heart attack).

"I think what sets as a part and what makes us so special is that we have so many processes and so many programs in place at BSA to make sure that our patients not only have a safe visit, but they have a satisfying visit," said Mary Barlow, Director of Corporate Communications for BSA.

According to the study, if all hospitals performed as well as this years winners, more than 186,000 additional lives could be saved.
