Of the 955 million monthly active Facebook accounts worldwide, about eight percent are actually fakes or duplicate accounts.
The 83 million accounts are those people have made for their babies, pets, or "alter-ego's" and Facebook wants to disable them. According to CNN, those "extra" accounts have been divided into three categories including duplicate accounts, misclassified accounts and undesirable accounts.
Users on Facebook are not allowed to have more than one personal Facebook account, or make accounts on behalf of others, according to the network's terms of service, and if the company finds a false account -- it gets disabled. If that happens, creating a new one won't be possible without the company's permission.
If any account is disabled, the information on the page will be erased from public view, however, Facebook won't delete the account from its servers for "safety and security reasons".
