MANNFORD, Okla. (AP) - A disaster recovery center is opening today in Mannford to help residents apply for federal aid because of this month's Creek County wildfires. The center will open at noon and be staffed by workers from the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration and other agencies.
CHICKASHA, Okla. (AP) - An Amber man who was lying on railroad tracks died yesterday after he was hit by a train. Forty-two-year-old Daniel Watson was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident just east of U.S. Highway 81 in Chickasha.
SEMINOLE, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation is reviewing a weekend shooting by a Seminole County law officer who killed a 24-year-old man who was approaching him with a knife. Aaron Palmer died Saturday. Authorities say the officer went to a home to serve a felony warrant.
NEW YORK (AP) - Shares of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group are climbing in pre-market trading after a rival offered to buy the Tulsa company for about $2.3 billion. Hertz is paying $87.50 per share for Dollar Thrifty after trying to buy the business for the past two years.
