SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst wants a fourth term in office. He made the announcement about his political future today at the Republican National Convention in Tampa. Dewhurst lost a U.S. Senate runoff to Ted Cruz last month.

GALVESTON, Texas (AP) - Galveston leaders have voted to rebuild most of the low-income housing destroyed by Hurricane Ike four years ago. They're abandoning a plan to replace public housing with a voucher system that would allow residents to live in private housing. The voucher-only system threatened nearly $600 million in federal funding for the city.

MCKINNEY, Texas (AP) - Utility officials say four people hurt in a natural gas pipeline explosion north of Dallas all have minor injuries. A crew was working in McKinney when a piece of equipment ruptured the line, sending up flames and thick black smoke. The fire is now out.

CUERO, Texas (AP) - The man known as the "Twilight Rapist" has pleaded guilty in another sexual assault. Billy Joe Harris has been given two 35-year prison terms for the attack on an elderly woman in Yoakum in 2009. He's already serving a life sentence for attacking a disabled woman in Edna that same year.
