AMARILLO, TEXAS -- For the entire month of August, Odyssey Hospice, along with other local businesses of Amarillo have partnered with, Snack Pak 4 Kids. A community wide food drive in which they are hoping to collect more than 1,000 jars of peanut butter.

The local organization puts together packs of food for young students that are then discretely put in the child's backpack on Friday afternoons.

The children who receive these snack packs are recommended by school officials, and everything collected will be given within the Amarillo School District.

The entire community is encouraged to participate in the drive. Odyssey Community Liaison Brande Bigham said, "The most rewarding part is to know where it goes, it stays right here in Amarillo. These are our kids, these are the kids of Amarillo that go to our schools, and to know that they're going to have the food they need is very rewarding"

The Odyssey welcomes everyone to join them at 6900 I-40 West September 6th for the wrap up of the drive. Those who bring in an 18 ounce jar of peanut butter will get a free lunch.

"We have been so surprised by the incredible amount of support our community has shown during our food drive," said Bigham. "We were hoping to collect 1,000 jars of peanut butter and we are going to surpass that goal!"
