CANYON, TEXAS -- West Texas A&M University's Student Government has declared war against new rival Midwestern State University.

The declaration came after Head Football Coach Don Carthel said "it's going to be a war.," when referring to this weekend's game against Midwestern.

The Student Government heeded the words of Coach Cathel and decided to make it official at its regular meeting on Monday.

'We didn't feel a 'need,'" Student Body Vice President Jose Lopez said. "We just wanted something to pump up school spirit and emphasize the importance of this weekend's game."

Coach Carthel called upon WT's student body to pack the stands at Saturday's game. The game will decide who wins the Lone Star Conference (LSC) Championship.

The Buffs currently remain undefeated in conference play and Midwestern has only fallen once.

Saturday's game is WT's last home game. Fans are encouraged to wear maroon as the theme is 'Maroon Out.'
