AMARILLO, TX -- Amarillo community members delivered more than 8,000 gifts to children in the area as part of the Eveline Rivers Christmas Project Saturday morning.
"They're excited, some are just in awe, it's a different set of emotions for each house, you never know what you're going to get," said Eveline Rivers Christmas Project founder.
This is a day that many look forward to and has even become a tradition for some.
"We've been doing this for eight years, and we really enjoy seeing the kids' faces, cause it lights up their world," said Cheyenne Thomason Volunteer.
She and her grandfather, Billy said it's the reaction they see in the kids that motivate them to continue to volunteer.
"When I see these little children's faces light up, when you walk in their house and they don't have any presents and then all of a sudden you give them one... it's worth every bit of what we have to do to do this," said Billy Thomason Volunteer.
The Eveline Rivers Christmas projects was founded 1979, and continues to grow every year.
