AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Thursday night Amarillo Police responded to the 2400 block of North Wilson for reports of shots being fired, according to a news release.

When officers arrived at the scene, the found numerous 9mm cartridge cases in the street in front of several houses. Witnesses told police that a black Jeep or similar type vehicle was seen leaving the area after the shooting.

At about 10:53 p.m. APD officers stopped a blue Jeep Cherokee in the 4200 block of Morning Drive. When officers confronted the driver, he initially gave a false name. Officers continued their investigation and learned that the driver was Eddie Dean Barrow, 22.

Barrow was found to have an outstanding warrant for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a warrant for unlawfully carrying a weapon and a warrant for failure to identify.

Barrow was booked in the Potter County Correctional Center.

Later that evening, at approximately 10:58 p.m. officers spotted another black SUV type vehicle in a parking lot. Officers made contact with the driver and received permission to search the vehicle and found a plastic box with marijuana inside the vehicle's floorboards.

Brandon James Hall, 24, was the driver of the vehicle. Hall was booked into the Potter County Correctional Center.

At approximately 12:15 a.m. an APD officer in the area of Bonita and Echo heard gun shots. The officer spotted a black SUV that the officer believed to be the source of the gunshots. Officers detained and searched the vehicle. They discovered a .45 caliber handgun on the floor of the vehicle. The driver, Joel Estrada, 29, was carrying a re-sealable plastic bag of what is thought to be methamphetamine over 200 grams.

Estrada was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center for unlawfully carrying a weapon, manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and discharge of a firearm.

APD said that none of the three men have been charged related to the original shots fired call. That case is still under investigation.
