Early Saturday morning Dusters FB/LB Donte Newsome was killed in a shooting outside a Huntington, West Virginia night club. Two other men sustained life threatening injuries. It happened around 3 a.m. outside of the Fluid nightclub. Newsome played linebacker with Marshall, then the Huntington Heroes before coming to Amarillo to play linebacker and fullback for the Dusters. In his eight games this season he scored 11 touchdowns before going on IR. He was scheduled to have a doctor's appointment this week to get cleared to resume playing. Newsome was 25 years old.
