Former player returns to lead the team

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- As Pronews 7 first reported on our 5:30pm sports last night, Tom Coolen is no longer the Gorillas head coach. Owner Randy Sanders says Coolen left for personal reasons and was not fired because of his 10-22 record.

With Coolen gone, the Apes lost a Sunday matinee game to New Mexico 4-1 awaiting a new head coach. Pronews 7 was first to report that former Rattlers/Gorillas player and assistant coach, Brian Pellerin would be the new bench boss. That became official Monday afternoon when Pellerin was introduced as the teams head coach. He has signed for the rest of this season and for next season.

The players will have a few days for adjust to their new coach since they don't play until Friday and Saturday at Rio Grande Valley.
