Amarillo native Ryan Palmer is off to a great start at the 111th US Open Golf Championship.

The Amarillo High and Texas A&M grad led round one for most of the day until he bogeyed the par 5, 16th hole. Palmer finished at 2 under par 71, is the highest American on the leaderboard and currently is tied for second one shot back of leader Y.E. Yang. P
