CHILDRESS, TEXAS -- A helicopter crash killed a McLean man Tuesday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash also injured a California man, DPS said.

Jonathan David Suhr, 23 of McLean, was pronounced dead at the Childress Regional Medical Center after DPS said a helicopter crashed.

DPS said the chopper was hovering about 150-160 feet above the ground when Suhr, a lineman, was suspended in a chair 50 feet beneath the helicopter.

Suhr was hanging rollers on power poles when the helicopter lost control and crashed straight down, DPS said.

The crash happened at about 4 p.m., Tuesday 2.5 miles northeast of Childress, DPS said.

Keith Hard, 42 of Butte County, Calif., the helicopter’s pilot was injured, DPS said. The chopper, a Hughes 369D, was owned by Brim Aviation.
