AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo Police responded to a traffic accident early Tuesday morning.

At approximately 1:07 pm officers found a motorcycle had struck another vehicle just north of the 16th street and Georgia intersection.

Michael Taylor Ross Philley, 24, had been riding his 2002 Suzuki motorcycle when he applied his brakes and smashed into the back of a black Dodge Neon.

According to police, Philley had been speeding at the time of the accident.

When Philley applied his breaks, the motorcycle fell to the pavement as it slid into the other vehicle.

Philley was transported to the hospital where it is believed that he could be suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The three people inside the Dodge Neon were not injured.
